Student Experience at Hawaii Palms

Student Experience at Hawaii Palms English School

Ai and Miri Ikeda came from Japan to study abroad in Hawaii. They were very nervous at first, but in the end, they fully enjoyed and took advantage of their time here.
Read below to see how they spent their time in Hawaii.

Q1. What did you like about participating in the Kids Program?

A1. Since my daughter goes to an international school in Japan, she usually speaks English at school. But I was glad she was able to be in an ENGLISH ONLY environment with classmates of different nationalities and various ages.

They also had many activities, such as museums, the zoo, a taro patch…., which gave her a lot of experiences that she wouldn’t have had on a regular trip yo Hawaii. These experiences gave her confidence and allowed her grow a lot in our three weeks here.

Q2. Why did you decide to come to Hawaii together?

A2. I’ve always wanted Miri to study abroad because she is attending an international school. I thought it would be more difficult for us to go on a long trip as she gets older, so I decided this was a good time for us to do this. After researching different locations, I finally decided on Hawaii because it’s a comfortable place with a nice climate. But also because I’ve been dancing hula for the past 3 years and because the origin of my daughter’s name is Hawaiian.

Q3. How was your accommodation?

A3. Hawaii Palms arranged a room for us at Island Colony. The location is good: very convenient for going to school, for shopping, and close to a lot of restaurants.

The building is a little old and you can hear the noise form the street, but we were very comfortable there.

Q4. What are your overall Impressions?

Thank you very much for these past three weeks! It seems like a long time, but I was able to spend a very fulfilling time. The teachers and staff at Hawaii Palms were very warm and kind, and my daughter enjoyed the program so much from the first day. She said that she wanted to go to school even on weekends.

There were fun activities every day and, apart from learning English, she also made a lot of friends. We had a very fun, dream-like life in Hawaii. By speaking English, communicating, and having a lot of experiences, my daughter was able to grow a lot. Thank you very much.

It wasn’t just her daughter who enjoyed herself. Ai also got along with other parents, and she could communicate with other moms in English. Even though they didn’t study English at Hawaii Palms, the parents often got together after school, went out for dinner, and enjoyed the Friday night fireworks at the Hilton.

Whether it’s a chance meeting at Hawaii Palms, or the strong wishes to get to know each other through English despite being from different countries, our staff members will fully support you in your challenges and experiences. So please feel free to contact us !
