Tomoko’s Pick: Local Favorite

It had been a while since Tomoko last visited the Wahiawa location—it was just after pandemic. So, when she heard that a new location had opened in Kaimukī in June 2026, she couldn’t wait to check it out. She headed straight to The Honey Bar Kaimukī (1142 Koko Head Ave) to see what it was all about!

Starting with raw Hawaiian honey, The Honey Bar uses the art of fermentation to create unique offerings such as mead and honey spirits.
What Exactly Is Mead?
Mead is an alcoholic beverage made by fermenting honey with water.
The “Mead Through Time” experience is a 45-minute tasting that takes you on a journey through the history of mead while sampling six different varieties. The lineup even includes meads that aren’t available on the regular menu, making it a fun way to discover something truly special!

A must-try during the tasting is…
“I’ve never had mead before. What should I try?”
“What do you recommend for a first-time mead taster?”
“What’s your favorite mead?”
Don’t be afraid to ask the staff lots of questions!
